More than one claim on the same day is defined as “accumulation”

I paid $500 for the four year protection plan, tried to use the plan one time, but was denied because I submitted against two pieces of furniture damaged on the same day (finish rubbed off the edge of coffee table; and scented oil spilled on cocktail table). I stupidly volunteered that the damage occured during a party and was told that the two claims are seen as accumulated damage, and that a party violates their definition of normal residential use. I asked what would have happened if I'd not mentioned the word party, and if I'd made two separate claims (one claim on two different days), and was told that the claim would have been approved.
