Wheel Bearings

2

First let me state I have been a Goodyear customer for nearly 40 years. Last week I took my 1998 Chevy S-10 to the local Goodyear store to have the wheel bearing replaced. The mechanic evidently failed to press the bearings in correctly and they were 1/2 inches out of alignment causing the pion gear pins to shear and damaging the gears. They also failed to reinsert one of the four drive shaft bolts resulting in extreme vibration and damaging the drive shaft support and bushings. One rubber support appeared to have been shave with a blade whether intentional or by accident. My mechanic replaced the pinion gears, with new pins and spline. He also put new bushings in the drive shaft support and installed a new bolt. The total price to repair was $480. Goodyear charged me $618. to replace the bearings.
