Do not stay at the Von Trapp Lodge in Stowe Vermont. Here is why: [Letter to the Lodge] I just wanted to let you know that my recent trip to your resort was a huge disappointment. I checked in on November 22nd (Thanksgiving) and then went to the dining room for our 6:15 dinner reservation. The dining room was chaos. There were dozens of people standing around waiting for tables. We waited over 45 minutes to sit down. Obviously the dining room had overbooked and as a result the service was hurried and the food was not served in a timely manner. It was certainly not the dining experience I expected from a resort. My stay continued on Friday morning with an early wake up by a delivery truck parked outside my window. It appears my room (Room # 233) was located directly above the loading dock and all day I was "treated" to the sound of delivery trucks loading and unloading. It was not the peaceful experience I was expecting on a trip to Vermont. I did call the front desk to ask about the delivery trucks and was told that indeed my room was located right above the delivery entrance. Overall the resort needed maintenance. There was peeling wallpaper and worn carpets in several spots. There was an ongoing painting project on the hallway. Paint cans and drop cloths were left out for several days although I never did see anyone actually painting. I felt like I was staying in the middle of a construction project. It was my first visit to Stowe and I was pleasantly surprised by Stowe village and I will be visiting Stowe again this winter for a ski vacation. I probably won't be staying at your resort and I will certainly share my dismal experience with friends and family. It is unfortunate that your resort did not live up to my expectations.
