Street name versus Highway name/number

When traveling with Garmen one of our problems is it tells the street name instead of the Highway Number when in fact it is the Highway name/number we are looking for! so irritating! On leaving a town it will say, stay on Main Street for the next 58 miles, no Highway name/number mentioned! How do you know you're on the right road until you see a Highway marker? Fix this please!!!
