When they issue a reward card, the expiration date is fairly quick and, of course, if you pass the expiration date, there is no option for recovering your rebate. Why can't they just give you the $50 off the price? Or offer you a way to recover a portion of the rebate? These companies are all banking on the possibility that a) you'll never apply for the rebate, b) you'll miss the deadline or pieces of proof you have to send to them to qualify for the rebate, c) you'll forget that you sent in for the rebate, and you never receive the rebate card, and d) once you receive your rebate card, it will expire before you get around to using it. What a scam!
