Refused to refund hotel stay during Covid pandemic

We were set to go on a MLB east coast trip this summer. Yankees, Mets, Orioles etc. Then Covid hit, our dream trip was cancelled. Every hotel we booked refunded us our money, they were all non refundable ones too. Our rental car refunded us as well, again non refundable. We contacted hotels.com to cancel our hotel at Wyndham in Baltimore and they gave the hotels.com agent the run around, told them to call back tomorrow, next week, Wed etc. When they finally got a hold of someone we were told sorry about your luck we wont be refunding you. I then proceeded to contact Wyndham from here. They immediately got back to me asking for more information, again I told them I realized it was non refundable but under the pandemic, and that we booked from hotels.com. They got back to me immediately asking for more information, which I sent...I then received an email back saying oh you booked with hotels.com we cant help you, call them. I then responded to that email stating that they were the ones who requested more information and I stated that we booked with hotels.com in the original email sent. I havent heard from them sense. I wont be booking with any Wyndham hotel from now on, poor customer service, poor understanding under a pandemic. User's recommendation: Stay away!
