"Gold gets oxidised when left in storage for a long time," the store manager claimed when the state of 'gold' jewellery bought from Prouds was shown to her. She refused to accept that gold does not oxidise and demanded that the cleaning of the same be paid for. A refund was not being asked for, just a reason for the tanishing and rectification of the same. Surely jewellers are required to know the chemical properties of their products before making ridiculous claims User's recommendation: Plenty of honest jewellers out there. Go to them.
