Oakland Traffic Unjustly Penalizes
Hello! I would like to share my negative experience with "Oakland Traffic". In the spring of 2018, I lost my rookie card, but since I use public transport very rarely, I found it only after a few months and in May went to the RS customer center to renew the card. Thank you for losing it, I paid for the renewal, and I even loaded 15 unused trips on the new card, which I was pleasantly surprised about. But in January of this year, I received a letter from RS about an indebtedness of 30 dollars for driving without a ticket in March 2018 (right after I had already lost my ticket). Then I went to RS to write an application for cancellation of the penalty, because I have not traveled without a ticket and I always paid fairly for the trips. After a month, I received a response that I was driving with a smart card that did not contain a valid authorization code at the time of presentation - but what could it be if it was «Not even a year had passed since the driver's card? RS also writes that I have presented an identity document myself, and the controller has verified the person's identity and has drawn up a report (with a signature that does not belong to me). No themist could present any documents because I have not lost them. The fact that the card was lost and someone has used it is generally ignored by RS. When asked why I was not told about the penalty when I renewed the card, and how the card was renewed at all if the penalty was not paid, I replied that they did not need to be informed. I contacted the CRPC, where I was told that in practice, RS could not claim the penalty because he had already been issued with a new ticket. Maybe someone can suggest how to deal with this situation? Do I really have to pay a penalty for an offense I haven't committed at all?
