Shady service techs and extreme price markup

You have to watch out for this company! I will admit upfront the install techs do decent work however, when it comes to getting anything serviced you need to know that they extremely markup prices. My example: I was told I needed a new Igniter and Motor Fan Capacitor for my furnace; both very small parts. I was told by a technician the capacitor was very hard to find, and cost around $140; for such a small, easy to install part, I thought that was an extreme price. Not being an HVAC person, I trusted what the technician told me and paid $189 (initially $247 but I got a military discount) to get the two parts replaced; because he had the "hard to find part" on his truck at that time. Later that day; after hearing the prices they wanted to charge my neighbor for repairs, I got online to check the prices of the two parts I had installed. I could have gotten the parts I needed at Wal-Mart and Sears for a total of $16.30 and installed them myself; but I trusted the technician on the "hard to find part" aspect. I complained that evening about the $170 price difference to an office worker (Patty) and was not so politely told I could always order the parts and do the work myself, but they warranty their work and professionally install the parts...so...basically I was charged what I was charged. Really, less than $20 in parts and maybe 15-20 minutes of work and they charged $189; in addition to already being at my house for service that I already paid for two months earlier (explanation below). What a joke! They have lost a customer and I will never refer this company to anyone because they are dishonest, unorganized and price gouge. Side Note: When I had my A/C replaced I paid to have the furnace and blower cleaned at another time. Two months after the A/C install (two months because I wanted to see how long it would take for them to actually follow through on the work I prepaid for; and they didn't; obviously not a detail oriented company), I had to call and remind the company that I paid to have furnace work done. Thinking if I didn't call them, I would have never heard from them to get the furnace work done that I paid for two months earlier. Oh yeah, AND, when I had the A/C installed I qualified for a whole house duct cleaning, free of charge. They never mentioned that to me at all from the beginning; I happened to come across the coupon on a website and let them know I qualified for a free duct cleaning. Again, probably would have never heard a thing about that if I didn't find it myself. Just saying, you have to watch out for this company. The install teams are great, it's the service techs that get a hefty commission for whatever they can sell you (a statement made directly from a new tech who helped fool me) are the ones you need to be weary of; the more the NON-HVAC person knows, the more the service techs will seem like your best friends who want to take care of you; don't fall for it folks!!
