Toyota extended warranty refund adios

In 2005 we bought a 2005 Toyota 4runner from a Carson City, Nv dealer. In closing the deal the salesman talked us into buying th 100k/7yr extended warranty. If you did not use it during the warranty period, we would get a refund of the cost of the coverage, $1695. Well the time has come to get our refund and surprise... The warranty company, Signet Finacial, went bankrupt last April, 2011. Gee isn't that just swell? The company nor Toyota notified us to the wonderfull fact. I haven't talked to the dealership yet but I would bet a paycheck they are going to do zip claiming they are not responsible. I think it boils down to the integrity of the dealership that we trusted making the decision to buy the coverage. Didn't they, Toyota, check this company out to make sure the funds were in escroe or secure? Apparently not. Be aware of extended warranties. You have no gaurranties you will ever get to use it!
