A Highly Dysfunctional Company and Culture Community Sales manager (Former Employee), dallas Texas – December 17, 2012 Pros: twice a month you get to eat and drink for free on thursday night at the pizza party Cons: long hours, dysfuntional sales and corporate level enviroment, and false advertisement about the product and sales success In my 20 years of professional sales, I have never met a group of screwed up sales organization. As another quality sales person, who lasted 5 weeks stated " I thought this was a front for a CIA Run Operation experimenting with how people respond to abusive, weird and outrageous behavior...None the less, here I go... First the owner surrounds himself with kiss butts who tell him anything he wants to hear. Not what he needs to hear! Why not, because he is an egotistical, emotional, loose cannon. The owner thinks his homes are the be all and end all of homes, priced too high and not in touch with what is really going on in his marketplace..NO TRAFFIC at All...Why is that, because everyone is afraid to tell him the truth...Oh yeah, get this, from all of his sr VP's to all the low end employees, he gets off by having everyone refer to him as Mr. Last Name, we will call from here on as Messiah...What a joke...As for the culture, it is out of wack. First they have bi monthly sales TeleBlitz's on thursday nights until 830pm. They make all their sales persons come in at 5pm in Addison ( love the traffic 1 hour to get there) for a speech from the Messiah and then they have an Amway Rah Rah session for an hour...Here's the best part, they provide dinner and alchohol to grease you up for a fake phone clinic. Everyone has to make calls from the corporate offfice cubicles and set 6 appointments for the up coming weekend. What really happens Mr Messiah, is that all the sales people sit around for 2 hours and blow smoke up everyone elses butts, eat the food and get drunk on the booze. You might as well call it a Pizza party...Then at 830 everyone turns in a call activity sheet showing 6 appts for the weekend.. Duh, two things happen MR Messiah, they either alreadly had the 6 appts made before they appeared for the Rah Rah session or they just made up 6 appts...False sense of sales security, the VP's all think its great, we have appts, we'll sell 20 homes this weekend! LOL...NOT What a great way to treat PROFESSIONALS Sales people, like little kids at a telethon! here is another great point of the useless region sales managers, when filling out reports, if you dont have numbers, like appts, walk up prospects, or activity to report on your 3 weekly sales reports, The JR Messiahs have you as one states all the time, "Just Make Up Numbers and Report false numbers", "Because no one checks and follow ups on activity"... I am NOT Kidding... Mr Messiah is always getting False numbers, and these people he pays, give them the numbers, WOW... As for the sales force, in my 3 months, they average a 70% ROLLING QUARTERLY TURNOVER RATE... the other 30% ARE MADE UP OF VETERAN 3-6 YEARS REPS. this is why they stay. When i first came on, I asked about the person I was replacing. I was told by region sales manager that "he wasnt selling enough". The gentleman I replaced had 3 contracts being built and it represented the the ex sales person about $22, 000 in future commissions over the next 9 months...That blows...I' will come back to that in a second...about 1 month in, the sales women I was working with in the community/development gave up a half deal in another community of the region SM so that the other community sales person could get his first deal...he had been there 3 months, no sales. To make the Region Sm look good, he asked the salesperson to give up his half to justify this other sales person value to Mr Messiah. when I asked my partner why he gave up $6, 000 in commission, she stated "no problem, because this sales person wont last and when he is gone in two weeks, I will get the whole commission when they are paid out back to me...HUH...Now back to the other $22k, those commission where given to another veteran sales rep. because the region SM didnt like someone, he terminated him to give his commissions to another kiss butt !. the funny thing is that the majority of verteran sales reps are lazy, sit on their computers and play on facebook and screw off all day, pad their numbers...waiting for someone to leave. The whole corporate scene is not about results, its about looking good and putting on a dog and pony show for Mr Messiah
