SURGERY TEAM MEMBER(S) NO SHOW

I was suppose to have a simple surgery to remove a lump on my big right toe described a soft tissue tumor on Explanation of Benefit on 12.14.18 at 6pm at scripps memorial hospital, Encinitas, CA. I was advised to be at the hospital prior to 5pm. I only had breakfast at 6:30am and last glass of water at 11am to comply with pre-op instructions the best I could to prevent nausea and vomiting after surgery. I arrived well before 5pm and registered to the proper location and signed in. I was informed that I was the last patient to have a surgery on Friday. I was escorted to the unit to change and get ready for the surgery. I then found out the surgery team member(s) involved in the surgery were not even in the building and there will be a delay from 6pm to 7-8pm. I continue to wait after being transferred to the observation unit but the surgery team member(s) were no show even after 8pm. I have a question for Scripps Surgery Team member(s). If the patient were to be your son, father, grandfather, will you be on time to perform the surgery? Why does your surgery team treat your patient as a 2nd class citizen? I am certain that close relative will not be treated like I was. If your Surgery Team who were no show because he/she has personal business to attend(shopping, special dinner, watching sports) Let your patient know what an accurate appointment should be and the patient can accommodate the best the patient could, instead of having long wait starving, thirsty, dizzy and continue to wait for your surgery team member(s). I was given a hint that a part of the surgery team is still not in the building. After 8:10pm I asked Nick-RN to remove the intravenous straw out of my skin. RN-Nick continue to cover for the surgery team and continue to cause delay but I’ve had enough by 8:20pm. Another RN (I think Marjorie) finally removed the straw from my skin and I went on my way to get water. I really felt like a 2nd class citizen by the surgery team involved.
