I've been a long term customer of Consolidated Communications/Fairpoint. I thought when they changed ownership things would improve with technical issue resolutions, slow internet speeds, faulty equipment, static phone lines, dropped calls and customer service. I was WRONG! I cringe Everytime I have to call CC for billing or tech issues. At my business location (in business district) Max speed offered was 3mbps (2018), max speed at residence is 10mbps (2019). Given my location I'm limited with services offered. I use Hulu for cable. It's affordable and no longer have to worry about de-icing a satellite dish. But with Hulu they require minimum of 8mbps just for that app. Nevermind using cell phones, wireless printer, a tablet or ANYTHING else that uses wifi. CC resolution to the slow bandwidth speeds is to use only one device at a time. If that's a computer, a cell phone, Bluetooth speaker or tv. Choose one and turn everything off. That's not the way of technology these days! Everything is based on convenience, accessibility and *** even new thermostats and security systems require Bluetooth. Having to choose one at a time is very frustrating. They say they may be doing line upgrades but I've heard that for years. Their competitors are far ahead of this company. Even reaching tech support after hours is a headache. Often times can't reach them, bill pay over phone is down, sorry office is closed call between working hours.... When everyone else works and can't be on the phone with these people for an hour. They are not customer service oriented. They are not in a rush to send techs out to fix problems. They are fast to over bill you. They bill a month in advance for services you haven't even received then when you cancel service because your software requires faster speed than 2-3mbps they forget to cancel your plan, make you jump through hoops for 2 months and charge you a cancellation fee. On top of that because of their error I lost out on my rebate which was for the new company to play for the termination fee. There was a deadline and cc made sure I missed that window due to their error. I don't have much good to say about this company! I hope another company is available here soon or they make huge stides in way over due upgrades without it costing customers unreasonable rates. With all the reviews over the years you would think the company would make big changes! They don't care about anything except money.
