NCI Fraudulent Roofing Contractor with the backing of GAF Shingle Company behind their name

On June 28, 2012 NCI Netherton Construction replaced the roof on our house. GAF Golden Pledge Warranty was part of the roofing contract. The roofing materials that NCI used were not in line with the required roofing materials required by the shingle company GAF for the GAF Golden Pledge Warranty (50 year on Timberline Shingle and 25 year labor warranty). Improper materials used in roofing replacement was validated by inspection done by Brian Sawyer from KW Billman, Rochester, Mn GAF Master-Elite Contractor. NCI at the time was a GAF Factory-Certified Installer as listed on the GAF website. When contacting GAF to help with this roofing materials problem they stated that it is a problem between the homeowner and roofing contractor. GulfEagle Supply Company of Rochester, MN sent a lein notice to be put on our house for the roofing materials that NCI failed to pay for. NCI was paid half of the amount of the contracted roofing job on 6/28/2012 with the remainder to be paid once the replaced roof passed inspection from the GAF Inspector (Ole Olson or Chris Miller). 2 months had passed before GAF inspector (Ole Olson) came to the house to inspect the roof. Unfortunately, Ole Olson was not a GAF Inspector but the Territory Manager (Sales Rep) for GAF in Rochester, MN. So the end result of replacing your roofing system with NCI is you loose any GAF Factory Warranty (GAF Golden Pledge or GAF Systems Plus) because the roofing materials installed are wrong. Plus you get to pay twice for the roofing materials, once to NCI and again to the GAF roofing materials supplier (GulfEagle Supply). If you are approached by NCI Netherton Construction Inc. to have your roof replaced politely decline the offer and go with a contractor who puts on the correct roofing materials. Best practices to follow to protect the homeowner when replacing your roof is 1)Get the supply list of materials required for the job directly from the shingle company that is offering the extended warranty and if they fail to respond to your request about the details of the warranty (materials/installer certification) walk away from that shingle company. 2) Don't pay any money to the roofing contractor for materials but request to have the materials bill sent to your address and you pay the roofing supply company directly 3) Have your home inspected/warranty validated before paying the contractor for the labor portion of the contracted job. Anyone else who has been conned by NCI please contact me at [email protected]. GAF Shingle Company is just a company selling Roofing Materials warranty with the hope that the roofing contractor who sells you the GAF Golden Pledge Warranty or System Plus will put on roofing materials that will invalidate any warranty for the labor portion of the purchased warranty. Hindsight is 20/20.
