Looking to be taken for every dollar you have? Look no further…

I've been insured with Elephant for six months. I have a payment schedule that automatically drafts the premium from my account on a specific day of each month. So far, I have incurred five Policy Reversal Fees (NSF fees) when my credit union shows not a single transaction from Elephant has ever been declined. I have asked for detailed billings and have been told that the detailed transaction history I'm looking for isn't possible for Elephant to generate. For example, I asked the date that my credit union denied each transaction and proof of each denial. That information doesn't exist, they tell me. I'm pretty sure Elephant is correct when telling me that the information doesn't exist - because the information doesn't exist! No Elephant transaction was ever denied by my credit union! Last month I requested an extension on my due date. Elephant allowed me to delay my payment from January 12 to January 25. I printed out my confirmation showing the new due date. On January 21, I got an email from Elephant detailing that my payment was declined by my credit union. Four days before it was supposed to be paid. Contacted the credit union. No transaction from Elephant was attempted, but Elephant charged me the fee for an unsuccessful attempt. I called and the Elephant rep told me that Elephant will only allow a ten-day delay when extending due dates. Meaning that I was only allowed to delay the payment until January 21. I reminded the rep that my online submission reflected that I was approved until January 25. The rep says that doesn't matter. Ten days is all you get. Evidently, you get a little more than that. NSF fees. Lots and lots of them. Even if your transactions aren't declined. I've disputed six months worth of payments to Elephant with my credit union and filed a complaint with the Texas Department of Insurance. There's no guarantee anything will come of the complaint, but I can sure guarantee one thing: I just kissed Elephant good-bye.
