I'm currently an active duty military member. Due to my current location, I don't have an actual military dental facility nearby. This means that I must use the remote dental service from a local dentist that is in the United Concordia (UC) network. My dentist laid out a treatment plan for me and it was submitted to UC for approval. The quickly denied approval even though this is a needed procedure. My dentist resubmitted the request with more information and further explained the need for treatment. They responded with another letter refusing approval and basically told my dentist to remove the teeth that needed the procedure done. So basically no option for treatment, just extraction according to UC, but my dentist does not agrees with them. After talking with my doctor (in an unrelated visit) he pretty much verified my suspicion about this company. He told me that UC is awful when it comes to paying for medical treatment and that their service in general is well below other medical insurance companies like MetLife. So this horrible company would rather have you lose your teeth than pay for an actual preventive treatment that would make your dental health much better. Stay away.
