Terrible Service and Shortchanged!

I have never written in a complaint before, even when companies have done a less then optimal job. But I feel obligated to share with you how bad Blue Ribbon Builders truly is, so more people will not be taken advantage. I have a great piece of advice if you ever meet "Phil" Ohana trying to get you to let "Blue Ribbon Builders" do pavers for your yard---without hesitating tell him to get lost. He is shady, dishonest, and a terrible communicator and project manager. After having gotten the final bid for over 3000 square feet of installed pavers in our yard, he kept adding costs such as $1700 because of the pattern we picked (he never told us the price was different because of that pattern at the final bid). Then he wanted $900 more because of pipes we had for the irrigation system that the pavers went over, which we disclosed at the beginning when he gave us the final bid too. Finally he ended up short changing us over 200 square foot of pavers (almost 2 pallets) that we paid installation price of $6 per square foot. I also have to say be prepared to manage your own project, meaning you will be checking the illegal immigrants work to ensure they don't make major errors or do extremely poor work. Between my husband and I it became a full time job as we tag teamed overseeing the project. Phil merely shows up every 2 weeks to collect the check and tell you of another cost not included in the final bid then waddles off. Conveniently he will drop off the supplies (pavers) and you can't get a hold of him for the next 4 out of 7 days of the week if there is a problem. I guess you are stuck with the cheap pavers and ill matching retaining wall he brings to the project sight. Instead of calling it "Blue Pavers" I now call it "Blue Ripe off!" Stay away from that company as far as you can....it is worth it to pay more if you get a good product. The pavers offered are cheaply constructed (costing $1.43 square foot) and as much as you hound the workers to do a good job, they still do disappointing work (chips and dents throughout installation, cement drips all around, big gaps, rough cuts, etc.). There service and product is terrible for what you pay. They were scheduled to seal the pavers for our project on Monday. We ended up following up everyday that week until they came Friday afternoon in the evening and the worker couldn't see because it was getting dark and did a rushed job. Then Phil promised a worker would be back to fix the chips and put sand in the cracks within a week of finishing the sealing job. That was a month ago, he deposited our check and I don't think we will be hearing from him again. Hopefully, this comment helps someone from making a terrible mistake like I did. Stay clear of blue ribbon builders in Tucson and especially Phil Ohana!
