Slower than molasses in winter
In early 2018 I tried to cash in a nearly 60 year old life insurance policy on me issued by MassMutual in the 1950s and trying to get money back from them was a nightmare. They used every excuse in the book to drag their feet and hang on to the money as long as possible. When I requested to cash in the policy they initially never sent out the forms, after two weeks I called and inquired about them which they claimed the post office must have lost them, it took two weeks or more to send out the forms, then they claimed I had not sent all the forms back (which was a crock), then they claimed I had not signed all of the forms (again, a crock), then they needed my father's death certificate, then after three more weeks they needed my mother's death certificate, on and on. It took several months to finally get the old policy cashed in. Way too much hassle.
