Resolved: CSMembers advertise Free membership, but charge anyway.

Update by user Feb 06, 2018 They cancelled the membership, and returned the funds to my account after contacting them directly.... Original review posted by user Jan 07, 2018 I found a couple of websites that I was interested in, mainly because they claimed to be free, and I signed up.... The sign up process included several pages of questions that needed to be answered before taking you to a page that demanded that you verify your identity using a credit card. So, I filled it all out, after reading that the card would not be charged, but was only necessary for identification purposes. After providing my information, I was verified, and provided a membership and login for the sites I was looking at. Unfortunately, despite being told, MANY times that this was a Free service, and that the card account would not be charged, I checked my account, and they had deducted $39.95 from me. So, I found a Contact Us link at the site where I was initially registered for the so called 'free membership', and it took me to CSMembers.com, where I ended up cancelling my membership due to being lied to, and because of blatantly false advertising. CSMembers then informed me that my cancellation had been processed, but that it would take 4 - 14 days for the money to be returned to my account, and that I needed to contact my financial institution for their policies on this. I found this to be infuriating as I was promised NO CHARGE while registering, but was instead charged 40 bucks, and now I have to wait for God know how long before the stolen money is returned to my account. How on Earth are companies like this allowed to operate?? Isn't there some kind of laws about false, and misleading advertisement?? I mean I know that the internet is a cesspool of criminals nowadays, but Oh My Lord, isn't there any legitimate presence online at all anymore?? The main reason for this review is to try and help someone else in the future understand that anytime you are asked for card or banking information online in the name of verification, it is almost certain that despite how many times you are assured that there is no charge, you WILL BE CHARGED!!
