I require a remote control because the one I have does not turn on ir off the fan I can only change the speeds. I was told I would gave to pay about $70 half if what I paid for the fan kit itself. I'm not happy about this the fan was a gift for my 91 yr old mother. User's recommendation: Be careful when purchasing these fans with cheap remotes. They are made to fail and customers have to pay $70 to use it again. Smh.
