Over charged by $2000!

Hello, I am writing to you to dispute additional charges on my rental (Rental Record# [protected]). Our estimated total was $968.72, we were charged $2, 921.46. We are talking about TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS over!!! I called your 800-customer service number and no one was able to help me, not even the supervisor. If I do not hear back from you, I will continue to contact anyone at Hertz that will address this issue and refund our money. My husband and I rented a car at RDU airport on Friday April 30. We returned it on Saturday May 1st at the Cobb Parkway S HLE location. This location is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. We called Hertz on Saturday to make sure we could drop it off at this location even if its closed and they said yes. So, we went to the Hertz Cobb Parkway location and tried to drop it off. The location had the gate closed and locked and there was no way to drop off the vehicle. I took a picture as proof that the gate was locked and therefore no way to drop it off. Again, we called Hertz from the location and my husband was arguing with Francis saying that we could not drop the vehicle off cause again, the gate was locked. I don't know if you know, the entrance into this Hertz location is off a major road, and there is no way to get onto the property when the gate is locked. We parked on the shoulder of the street when we called Hertz. So after going back and forth, Francis did not give us an option of dropping the vehicle off at another location, instead he said to just come back on Monday morning at 8am when this location would open again. He did not say that we would be billed for the extra days. Now at 8am on Monday morning, we were the first customers at the store to return the vehicle. My husband gave the keys to the clerk and the clerk said he would email him the receipt. He never said he was charging us an extra $2, 000 dollars. On Tuesday morning we checked our credit card account because we never received the email from Hertz and saw that we were billed the $2, 921. 46!! That's unbelievable! How is that legal? We did everything we needed to do. We were at the location to drop off the vehicle on the correct day but it was closed. We called Hertz and they said to come back Monday. That's what we did. Now you want to charge us an extra $2, 000?? That's crazy! That's basically stealing from your customers. And all your supervisor could say is, oh the vehicle was returned on Monday so we can't refund the money. If there was a way to actually leave the vehicle at the location on Saturday, we would have left it. There was no loss of revenue because that location was closed all weekend, so its not like you missed the opportunity to rent it to someone else because it was in our possession. This sounds like a scam to me and my husband. Telling us to do one thing, and then charging us an exuberant amount of money for doing exactly what you said to do. And judging by the reviews at this location, it sounds like we are not the only ones getting scammed!
