Incompetence or Dishonesty
Michael and Sons sent a technician to check a Trane heat pump that was not working. A diagnostic fee of $89 was charged. The technician then said the capacitor had to be relaced to do further diagnostic and then charged another $292. to replace the capacitor. The technician then demonstrated that the fan was "running backwards" and that the fan motor needed to be replaced fo another $787. Upon getting a second opinion from a reputable local HVAC contractor I was informed that the technician from MIchael and Sons had wired the capacitor wrong. The capacitor was rewired for $89.92.and the HVAC then worked just fine. The technician (supposedly a senior technician) from MIchael and Sons was either incompetent or dishonest. BEWARE User's recommendation: AVOID MICHAEL & SONS.
