Inaccurate oral estimate and outrageous pricing
1
Update by user Mar 12, 2020 It wasn't resolved! Update by user Mar 12, 2020 The monetary loss is $17,000.00 not $17.00. Original review posted by user Mar 12, 2020 The serviceman/salesperson orally quoted an estimate of $13,000 - $14,000 for replacing a gas furnace and air conditioner. I agreed to have the work done. Unfortunately, I took him at his word and signed the contract without reading it. After the installation I learned that I am being charged $29,897. That's quite a substantial cost compared to what other legitimate contractors charge. One wrote an estimate for the same quality of the product and service at a cost of $13,000! The Curtis Total Service response to that information is that, if I won/t tell CTS the name of the contractor, CTS could assume that "a ghost could have given that estimate!" The CTS spokesperson said that the other contractors must be self-employed! He also said the warranty will not be honored unless CTS continues to do all of the servicing on the furnace and air conditioner. I was also told that if I would have "done the math" I would have known what the price was. User's recommendation: Pleas research the cost of any home services you need and select a company that is in keeping with average to slightly above average pricing.
