How bad the waiting time can get?

I decided to close my credit card with this bank for only one reason — they are not answering the phone. Yesterday I was sitting on hold and listening to their soothing music, sometimes interrupted by “We value your time” messages. I was calling at around noon, the timeframe that was usually not so busy, in my experience. After I gave up, I decided to try another time, not at 4 PM. Same result, endless hold, lasting for literally an hour. No more wasting my time. Closing it.
