Flash drive not working properly

I bought a SanDisk flash drive for my insignia fire TV and before I had bought this flash drive the TV was telling me that I had too many apps and I had to delete 500 MB of apps on the TV and now that I got the flash drive to compensate for that room that I need for the apps it is still saying the same thing on the on this TV screen that there's too many apps on the device and they need to be removed please help thank you
