Extra charges for days I did not have vehicle

To Whom It May Concern: Ref #[protected] This is my official statement in regards to thrifty car rental charge of $1044.10. We have filed a dispute with our CC company since nobody can seem to call us back to get a resolution. To validate this statement we have our call log showing when we called Thrifty, how many times we called Thrifty and thrifty calling us back, timestamps can confirm we were in contact with thrifty and length of call on the log can prove we didn't just call and hang up, we spoke to people to figure out what the process was for reporting an accident and getting a tow and Lyft. We have a police report and contacts a Florida highway patrol as to who was there, road rangers, and which officer with a case number. On July 29th approx. 5:30 PM EST we were in an accident in a white Kia, plate 8LCM468. We imminently called Thrifty/Hertz to ask what to do. Our call logs for this first call says 38 min. During that call, the thrifty/hertz rep told us we MUST call the police, file a report, and thrifty would get the car towed and reimburse us for our lyft. During this time, Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) was very short staffed so we were on the side of the road for 7+ hours waiting for FHP to meet us and write a statement because Thrifty told us that we need to do that. During that time we had road rangers with us during the wait, when the officer arrived and waiting for the tow. Once the officer arrived, we had him write up a statement and he provided a case number, please see attachments. The office explained to us that he cannot leave nor can the road ranger until the car was picked up since it was an accident, so at some point (which we aren't aware of because we were told a tow was in place by thrifty) the car was picked up early morning 7/30/21. When I called Thrifty today (9/2/2021) they explained that they see the record of Thrifty calling Geico to tow the car but no record of time, who, when, where, and same for drop off, which makes no sense to us. Fast forward - we call Thrifty numerous times to see if the car was dropped off, they don't know, they can't see that information and they would put a request to close the ticket but nobody called us back, I had to keep reaching out. I get a letter 8/6 in the mail with a date of 8/3 saying the car wasn't in their possession, to which I reached out and they stated "oh, we have the car as of 8/6, it was dropped of by the tow company", which to my surprise is odd since it was picked up 7/29 or 7/30 per their request. As you can see, I did everything requested of me, and to think Thrifty is trying to charge me extra for the car for XX amount of days even though Thrifty called the tow company and what they did with the car for those XX is not my responsibility, Thrifty has notes detailing when we called to report the accident, stating the car wasn't driveable, the office stated that as well, and the tow request, so why would Thrifty charge us. Please see the attachments. Ashlee D
