All builders are the same there is no good or bad. If you have a budget of 200k and the base price of the model is 200k building is not for you. You have to educate yourself when going into new builds. First of all the models have about 100k in upgrades in them , that's not what your getting. Go in knowing your going to be spending around 20-30k more then the base. Always ask for an upgrade price sheet and if the builder wont provid one go somewhere else. Pulte was very upfront about their prices if you just ask. We have our appointment with the design center next week but have already gone over the detailed price sheet and know exactly what to expect. Yes I was also shocked that some stupid little things were not included such as garage door opener. Or lighting in bedrooms unless paid for in upgrade. Painting upgrade also. The key is to give yourself a budget on upgrades and pick things you cant do later or are not willing to go without. We chose tub/shower in master, bay window, cabinets and granite upgrade along with lots of little thing around 25k still our end price is amazing compared to comps in the area. Flooring sucks but we will price that but with someone else. But so far has been a great experience.
