Defy microwave faulty, refusal to refund

I bought a defy microwave from House &Home, Brits, northwest, on Monday 26 April and it didn't work. The following day I returned it and asked for a refund. They told me that the Defy technician had to assess the situation first. I don't care I still want a refund, I don't want a fixed product I want a new 1. On May 5th they call me to say my microwave is serviced and alright and I said but I don't want the microwave I want a refund and the person claims she knows nothing about that. These people want to trick me into taking a fixed product that will probably break again as soon as the warranty expires. Nonsense!
