Deceptive marketing practice
1
This Saturday morning July 24, 2021 at about 11am, I went to Shoppers at 5671 Steeles Ave E, Scarborough, ON M1V 5P6 to buy eggs which they are having on sale for two days: Saturday and Sunday. As expected they were out of stock, as is ALWAYS the case. I spoke to the (woman) manager and she told me to "try tomorrow". This is the standard situation at all Shoppers in the area that I'm familiar with; they advertise a 2 day sale for the weekend, put out a few dozen eggs on the shelf on Sat. morning, which will be gone in a few minutes after the store opens and an unsuspecting customer is pissed off because of his/her wasted time. Apparently this deceptive business practice is ok in Ontario where I live but not in Québec. (I've sent an email to Competition Bureau Canada to find out if this falls under False or misleading representations and deceptive marketing practices in the Competition Act).
