Bad Editing

The company was hired to format my footnotes and bibliography from Bluebook style to Chicago style. When I received the document, there was a host of problems but the biggest problem was that none of the footnotes had been formatted. After submitting 3 additional requests for the footnotes to be formatted, my document was delivered to me 5 days after my due date. My document still had not been completely formatted AND the editor had erase/deleted or did something to make a footnote disappear. This meant that the footnotes went from 839 to 841. There was no way to insert 840 because of what ever the editor had done. The editor could not provide a reasonable explanation nor could she restore the footnote. I made three request for a refund. The owner denied my request with boilerplate language stating that my instructions were vague and or ambiguous. However, I have complete documentation outlining specifically what I needed to be completed and also documentation that Mr. Lombardino understood what I was requesting. It was only after I requested a refund that Mr. Lombardino stated that my instructions were vague. The end result is that I spent over 40 hours editing my footnotes and other portions of my paper when I had paid this company to do it for me. I think that the company should refund at least 50% of the fee I paid. The reason I think I am entitled to at least this amount is because when they delivered the document to me on 12/5, none of the footnotes had been formatted which means they missed my deadline because I could not turn the document in with none of the footnotes formated. Second, when they delivered the "cured" document to me on 12/10 footnote 840 was missing from the document. When I tried to insert the footnote, it went from 839 to 841. The problem was with the track changes that the editor had perform. So even if all of the footnotes had been formatted, which they had not, I could not deliver a document with a missing footnote. So I had to revert back to the 12/5 document submitted and complete the footnotes myself.
