Back To The Past Collectables – Character Attacks, Insults, and Mockery

1

Back To The Past Collectables – Character Attacks, Insults, and Mockery I visited Back To The Past for a comic book appraisal and will never go back. They mocked my appearance and engaged in character attacks. I could see something was wrong from the moment I entered the store. I observed another customer groveling to them and everything was thick with menace. I politely asked about an appraisal and an employee said it’s $40. He was arrogant and snotty, but motioned at my bag and said “Let’s see what you got!” I asked if it’s a written appraisal and he said that’s for “Insurance purposes.” He accused me of not being honest up front. I started to defend myself, but he cut me off and imitated my behavior. He then made several puzzling, illogical, and contradictory statements. They do three different kinds of appraisals and one requires a notary public, but he wasn’t clear about anything. I couldn’t say anything without being interrupted. I thought about going somewhere else, but he emphasized Back to the Past is the most experienced and professional store for appraisals. I argued with myself about returning. I threw caution to the wind and returned the following week and I was immediately under attack. I was walking on eggshells and apologetically asked “Have I done something to offend you?” He repeated his accusation from the previous week, but emphasized he could do the appraisal. He kept imitating me and nothing was up for discussion. I asked if an appraisal would include his name, but he didn’t want to provide this. Then another employee butted in with manic aggression. He imitated my facial expression and criticized my interaction style. I was surprised they would treat a first-time customer this way. I decided not to do the appraisal and started putting my stuff away. They responded by informing me I have the option to leave. They acted like my behavior should not be outside their control. I could hear them shouting as I exited the store. The first employee was Pete Johnson and the second employee was Andy Cirinesi. I found this information on their website. Their website presents an image of positive fun-loving people, but nothing could be further from the truth. I learned that others have similar experiences. I’m in my fifties and this was my worst business experience ever.
