AAA Tow Fraud and Gustafason Brothers Huntington Beach, California Shady Mechanics

Hi, Last week, I had my car towed by AAA to a local mechanic to stay overnight and then be transferred to my regular mechanic. (The AAA tow guy gave me a rather spurious answer when I asked him to tow my car to my mechanic--he claimed I would be towed from the street in front of the auto shop, which turned out to be a lie. That was when he suggested the local Gustafason Brothers). Gustfason Brotherswho began work on it even though he had not seen or talked to me (he had only my name and phone number left on the windshield), and I planned from the beginning to send it to my regular, trusted mechanic. I told him I was going to send it to my mechanic and he said I owed him $90 for an estimate (which I did not ask for). I said I didn't ask for an estimate and that it was illegal for him to try to keep my car, which he threatened. He then called me back very angry, yelled at me and hung up. Finally, they released my car to my mechanic's tow company. My mechanic worked on my car that day. He had worked on it for a similar problem about 2 weeks previously, so he was very familiar with the engine and the car in general. He called me and told me that the last mechanic sabotaged my car, doing over $500 worth of damage. He wrote down all the things he found that were messed with, including an unplugged ground wire, wires crossed in the firing order and my timing belt (which he had just inspected) was loosened so that if he had started the car, my engine would have been destroyed. My mechanic fixed much of it for a reduced priced because he is a very honest, good man and he knew the situation. Since he is a good mechanic, he was incensed that another mechanic would do this to anyone and give them all a bad name. My car is older, but it's a Honda with a good engine that will last at least a few more years. I am also worried about other people patronizing that mechanic's shop. Some, on Yelp.com, already suspect him of shady dealings. I don't know how to proceed. I'm not sure if this is consumer law, or possible consumer law and criminal tampering? I was going to file in Small Claims Court as my mechanic is willing to testify as an expert witness. BECAREFUL OF AAA and Gustafason Brothers
