Poor service, misleading information

I received a better internet connection offer and so I called the Telstra operator to terminate the existing contract. During the conversation, the operator checked whether I had no debt for the current period and the contract is terminated on the same day. We said goodbye and thought everything was fine. It was a big surprise to me to receive an email from Telstra with a bill for last month even though I was sure the contract was terminated. I called Telstra again to find out why the bill had been issued, although the contract had to be terminated. The operator explained that I had been sent an SMS asking me to come to the Telstra customer center or call the operator again to terminate the contract. I didn't notice this sms. The operator was adamant and saidthat the drawn up invoice must be repaid and it is not possible to cancel this invoice, but this time the contract has been terminated. My argument that I had not used the service in the previous month also did not help. I don't think I should pay the last bill because the operator had promised to terminate the contract, but a mysterious sms was sent a week later.
