platelet donation

1

I am a platelet donor who moved here from Colorado and would like to continue to donate platelets. However the Red Cross removed all of the up, current to date aphersis machines (which use a single arm and takes approx. 1 1/2 hours) and replaced them with the old style, double arms and taking 3 hours, also increasing a donors risk of infection (using two arms). Due to the usage of out of date machines you have lost a platelet donor who donated every two weeks. I would like to continue to donate platelets using current technology. Why were the proper machines taken away and replaced with old machinery. Is that how much they think of donors? Increasing their risk of infection and wasting a donor's time by 1 1/2 hours. Please explain Thank you Beatrice Link
