I am now on the phone with Southwest Vacations. Natasha has been a wonderful representative. At issue is that I have been on the phone with her for over 4 hours. She is diligently attempting to apply travel credit to a new reservation and repeatedly received error messages. She can visualize the credit on my account and is apply to apply them, but unable to finalize and provide me with a new reservation number. She is currently talking to SW airlines to get this resolved. She has informed me that there is no policy in place for compensation for this inconvenience.
