FIRST AMERICAN HOME WARRANTY: DATE OF SERVICE 6/23/20, TODAYS DATE 8/03/20 , Microwave: Built In, Washer, Refrigerator: Freestanding FIRST AMERICAN HOME WARRANTY SENT a company repairman, from a company I will refuse to use in the future. I would NEVER recommend this repair company to anyone. WHY? 6/23/20- That was the service date. On that date here is what happened: I had reported three items to First American Home Warranty abbreviated (famw): 1) Washer, 2) Microwave, & 3) refrigerator water filter. 1)The WASH MACHINE abbreviated (wm): we had our (wm) for 15+ years. Worked perfect until a week prior to the reporting to First American Home Warranty (fahw). The issue was the wash machine would spin the clothes but they were still soaking wet. Which never happen prior. We had to run the spin cycle 2, 3, sometimes 4 times to get the excess water out before putting them in the dryer. THE REPAIRMAN: He looked at it, ran the spin cycle, saw the clothes were still soaked after the 1st spin. He then says NOTHING is WRONG with (wm). His solution was for us to continue repeating the spin cycle until the water was spun out clothes. I tried to explain to him that this is not right & until a week BEFORE HIS VISIT, one spin cycle did the job (as the WM manual sd). Well he just continued to say he sees nothing wrong. After attempts to continue convincing him this is not right, I gave up. THE FINAL RESULT: We were forced to BUY a NEW WASH MACHINE. So bought new Spent $500+ out of my pocket. THE NEW machine spun the clothes on one spin cycle (not 2,3,4). 2)MICROWAVE abbreviate (m): Reported to (fahw): When the (m) was opened it started running & would not stop until door closed. When the door was closed you could use the (M) as the controls still worked. THE same REPAIRMAN : Diagnosed a switch or switches that need to be replaced. He said 7-10 days for parts to come in. Said in meantime we could use the (m). Well, when he left, the (m) DID NOT WORK at all so we were completely unable to use it until parts arrived. CURRENT STATUS: As of today (8/3/20) the microwave still sits unrepaired . Why ??? I say to myself as it been now 40 days!!! Since the 6/23/20 Service date, I called company responsible for getting the parts 4 times, always with a promise I would get a call back. No call back ever So the next call I refused to get off the phone till I get an answer. Their response, part due 7/24/20. And they would call to set an appt. Well as of 8/3/20, no repair, no call from them. Which leads me to believe the communication with its customers assigned thru (fahw) are poor. Certainly my case. Cant they update me on part status w/o me having to continue calling them? SO AGAIN I HADTO BUY A small microwave to fill the excess void of time. Living 40 days w/o a microwave, especially in the heat of a summer Texas, is not realistic. 3)REFRIGERATOR water filter abbreviate (rwf): This was reported to (fahw) on their web page. The same Repairman didnt show it on his worksheet. So showed him (fahw) web page and he saw it. He replies thats not covered & no warranty covers that. I said no, not the case, as I had AMERICAN HOME SHIELD the prior year before (fahw). And AHS DID cover it. AND AHS had replaced in my home. Again he wouldnt listen, nor verify with (fahw). I sent an email (fahw) to advise whether it is, or isnt covered. Ive not received an answer from (fahw). 4)***They show on their our website (fahw) that this entire claim is closed and resolved. This is Not correct. 5)SUMMARY: The repair to the *** Microwave remains unresolved after 40 DAYS. I had to BUY a counter top Microwave out of my pocket due to the lack of urgency to get parts, & lack of communication from the repair company. NO ONE in Texas can wait in excess of 40 days in the middle of summer w/o a Microwave ** WASH MACHINE I had to buy a new one out of my pocket since the repairman wouldnt, couldnt repair it. **Refrigerator (fahw) never replied if it was covered, & the repairman didnt check with you either. 6)So. NOTHING on this work order was completed. And I am out close to $600 + the $75 service fee. For what? Incompetence, aggravation, No communication, spent my money $600.. And a repair company who seems to treat (fahw) clients without care to resolve actual issues or communicate, with absolutely absurd wait times. If I had called a company without going thru (FAHW), I know I would not be out all this money and the issues would have been fixed promptly. But thats what happens with these Home Warranty Companies-You just never know what your going to get. 7)Unfortunately I have no positive points to make. Even though I tried to find someI DO NOT write reviews as such EVER. This is the first that I would rate everything about this experience as close to a 0as possible. User's recommendation: Think Twice Before getting a Home Warranty. They are good at finding reasons to get out of a repair.
