Unlimited Mascara

I love this mascara and have bought more than a couple. However, with all the times I've purchased it, I'll use maybe half of it then the black rim comes loose. Then every time I want to use it is caked with mascara and the top will not close. If it falls over everything is covered with mascara from the wand. It's very frustrating. Would love someone to address this.
