On collecting the car at Krakow airport from Green Motion on 21st May 2017, we were shown around the vehicle and asked to note any pre-existing damage. We walked around the vehicle with Green Motion representative which despite having been cleaned, was covered in a fine dust, thus making identification of any scuffs, scratches or dents difficult. It quickly became apparent that even the tiniest of scratches (including small stone chips on the bonnet, which clearly cannot be avoided during the life of a car and thus should not be attributed to a renter as damage - this is just normal wear and tear) needed to be logged which we dutifully did and attempted to take photos. At no point during the inspection did the representative indicate that we needed to look underneath the car for damage hence we logged all “visible” damage as required by condition 5 of the rental agreement. On returning the car to Krakow airport on 24th May 2017, it needed to be cleaned so Green Motion representative took it away (on his own) to wash it prior to completing the handover inspection as we declined to just leave the car for inspection without being present. On returning with the car he acknowledged that there was no additional visible damage (beyond that already logged when the vehicle was collected), but then suddenly bent down and rubbed his hand underneath the front bumper and told us that there were scratches which would need to be paid to be repaired. Without lying down on the floor, these scratches would never be found and are clearly not “visible”. During our time using the car, we only parked either in our accommodation car park, which was a flat space with no curbs or in open air public car parks, again with no curbs which could have caused the damage for which we are being accused of having caused. Having taken photos of the damage to the underside of the car, we are 100% confident that we did not cause this and that the damage was pre-existing, but was not identified during the pre-inspection as it was not made clear that we would have to lie on the floor and inspect the underside of the vehicle and identify damage which is not readily “visible”. Despite numerous attempts to speak to the Green Motion management we were requested to pay for the damage. We asked for the procedure to be shared with us listing all car elements that are checked by staff during car inspection. We never received this this info. I made contact with legal department to help me rising a complaint about the company. It was very difficult to locate the head office in Lithuania. Letters were sent out to them without receiving a trace of respond. It is all very shady business they run. They target people to obtain money for illegal claims. We hired cars around the world and looking underside the car or engine was never part of normal inspection practice. Please do not use them to avoid issues like we have. It is a SCAM!!!!
