Unacceptable way of providing information

I forgot to use a coupon and I called the store (in Dublin, Ohio) to ask if I could use the discount if I come back with the receipt and they said “Certainly”. So I took the time to drive all the way there and at the customer service I was told that the only thing they could do is to give me a $5 coupon for my next shopping. I don’t think this is acceptable. They wasted my time and I am not going there anymore.
