Over the weekend of 6/2 and 6/3 we had reservations at the Somerset location. We had stayed at the South Brunswick / Princeton location last year when being in NJ for my mothers funeral and had a great experience at that location. But, due to the Princeton Graduation this past weekend the two locations on route 1 were booked and Somerset was recommended. The reservation was for a 2 bedroom suite with 2 king sized beds. It was for 4 adults traveling to NJ for my sisters 70th birthday. When we checked in and arrived at the room we were checking the beds for bed bugs (especially now) but instead found condoms between the box springs and mattress, stains on the sheet from what seemed like some food and possibly a brown stain from human waste, an incense burner in an outlet, ashes on top of the alarm clock. Needless to say we were shocked and immediately called the front desk. They launched an army at our room and immediately started cleaning everything. They were apologetic and said they would get us another room - we agreed. what they didn't tell us is they did not have a two bedroom suite with two king sized beds. they only had one queen and one full size bed room..... "didn't tell us they did not have another room like we reserved - but put us in a room that was not what we wanted. We stayed there only because with the Princeton graduation going on - there were not any choices at 5 o'clock the day of check in...……. they did issue a small credit on our bill but I think that is only to prevent us from turning them into the health department which I am still considering. I am not done with this yet and will be contacting Sonesta Corporate and that will determine next steps.
