I’ve spent nine months using the Novatech Wholesale system and have elected to quit. I’m passing on what I have learned as you evaluate your decision to sell online. The Good: Magento MultiversePro or M2E. This is software that allows you to select items from Novatech’s inventory and have them loaded up to your personal website, Amazon or eBay. The items you select are updated in real time and are added or discontinued as they are available in Novatech’s inventory. This is a great tool that allows you to batch adjust pricing and do newsletters and email campaigns. It is a great labor saver and lets you focus on more than than keeping your listings up to date. They do have a huge selection of items to sell from several different band name companies although their automated category selection process is sometimes erroneous. The Bad: Novatech is actually a couple of guys pretending to be a big wholesale company. They are actually a drop shipping company that uses other drop shippers to provide their products. They are not a real wholesaler. They don’t ship the products themselves. They contract with other drop shippers to provide a large selection of products consisting of new, refurbished and discontinued items. The biggest problem is that the pricing of their products do not generally allow a competitive price in the major competitive markets of Amazon and eBay, Walmart, etc. Their uploads for Bonanza, Big Commerce and Shopify only really work for Bonanza. I had problems with Shopify and Big Commerce uploads not working and Novatech provided no help in solving my problems and neither did Shopify and Big Commerce. Bonanza worked fine. The Ugly: To be successful against the giants of Amazon and eBay, you need to offer something that is unique or have a great price. If I found an item through Novatech that had a good price, I could not guarantee availability of the item. Niche marketing is not practical as you cannot have a guarantee of availability of any one product. Because of this you are not able to bundle products as there is no guarantee of product availability. Novatech upgraded their Multiverse Pro three times during my time with them. Each time made improvements but I lost all of my database of customers, my blogs, email campaigns, sales statics and newsletters from the program. Thus, I had to start over each time. They advertise that their system prevents violations on Amazon, eBay, etc. This is a fallacy. Within two months I was permanently banned from Amazon because of numerous, pricing, policy and trademark infringements. My appeals were rejected. Be careful about what you select to sell on Amazon. They also advertise that they ship the same day if the order is place by 4 pm Eastern Time. This a fallacy. I had to change my shipping to 1-2 days on eBay because they consistently could not get their drop shippers to meet that standard. They have moved from a suggested strategy of mega marketing to niche marketing. Their current website (as of this writing) is niche oriented towards electronics. However, the bottom line is that you are not able to control your product availability and what they offer is not unique enough to set you apart from the competition at a price that will attract a buyer. In nine months, I sold one item on my personal website in spite of Ad Words marketing. I had success on eBay and Amazon until the products I was selling were no longer available from Novatech or were rejected by Amazon. After a month of no sales on my website, Bonanza or eBay, I quit. Maybe Novatech will work for you, but it didn’t for me after a good effort on my part.
