Joy stick too finicky and goes too fast

Even on the lowest joystick speed, the air hawk goes too fast and the rider bumps into objects. Is there any way to adjust the joystick sensitivity and slow it down? Turning is also difficult because of the speed. When you take your hand off the joystick, the air hawk keeps going for about a foot. For these reasons my air hawk is not readily usable. Can you help?
