My mother died having two years left on her three year "Sign and Drive" Honda lease. We simply turned in her 2012 Honda Civic EX on 3/6/13, two days after the funeral. The dealership kept the car 3 weeks until another payment was due, took the car straight to an auction, without spending a penny on prep, and sold it below value and sent the lawyer of her estate a $7,020.60 claim because it auction off for just $14,600. So much for their caring concern and understanding when we returned the vehicle. The remaining two years of lease payments was less than $12 k.
