Here are some simple solutions that MAY work. I say MAY becuase it may require the customer to think about the real situation.
Why do you need to have it delivered? Are you a shut in? Convenience? You hate shopping? Weather?, etc, etc, etc. Any of these reasons are legitimate, but you have to remember that you are not the only customer. When weather in treacherous for you, it is the for the delivery person too. Everyone else is looking for convenience and customer service is driven by customers. If the first customer is late or not there, means the route is late, period. You can seldom make up time. sigh. If you really hate shopping, why not do a pick up - IF - you are close to the store. As long as you are spending over $30.00 there is no charge for the service. I do that often because I just want to go home after work an not deal with other shoppers. In no way am I saying that you don't have the right to have an expectation of service for paying your fee, but you know, sometimes it can't be helped. Now is the OP's it looks like poor management on the part of the store so they need to return her money and compensate her time. But then again, that's just me.
