Getting the run-around

My 66-year old brother died in May of 2018, and I submitted all the items I was asked to submit to Midland Nat'l Life. After not hearing from them in a reasonable amount of time, I called last Monday, and they told me I had to submit a letter, that I should have gotten the form from them, but I had not. It took four days to get to me, and it looks like some kind of trick question situation. Supposedly all inheritors must submit the same form, and they are asking questions I feel are none of their business. After I sent them everything they asked for, I believe they owe me a check. It is none of their business who will be an inheritor. We're only talking a $100,000 policy, and much of that will be spoken for with paying the deceased's debts and funeral costs. By the way, my brother had this policy for 34 years. What do you think?
