Fire Hazard from Christmas tree lights

We had trouble with the tree since we bought it in October 2029. Got the Tree out to use for second season and half the tree won't light and the other half is flickering on and off. Afraid tree is going to catch on fire because of faulty wiring. Spoke with customer service and was told they would send light strands only. Why did we pay all this money to have a prelit tree only to have to put lights on it anyway! 7.5 Shenandoah tree
