Failure to post large payment and refusal to respond to complaints as well as harrassment of customers

FIFTH THIRD BANK FIASCO I have been engaged in an ongoing dispute with 53 Bank for months over their refusal to properly post my payments to my mortgage principal where I was attempting to reduce my mortage with large payments and finally pay off my mortgage entirely early which they apparently did not like as other customers have reported to the BBB that 53 harrasses customers who do this. Instead of properly posting the large payments to principal they merely were paying future monthly mortgage payments and they also totally refused to post an almost $15,000 payment. During the course of this matter they constantly lied to me and I got numerous letters from the Office of the President of 53 Bank that they were "researching" my claim, but they continually refused to fix the problems. As reported by many others (over 1,000 complaints to the BBB) 53 Bank routinely engages in poor customer relations, lying to customers and according to at least three separate civil lawsuits filed against them (one of which by the CFPB that they agreed to settle a few years ago) of outright consumer fraud. In my case they repeatedly refused to credit me with an almost $15,000 payment to reduce my principal despite the fact I had cancelled checks to prove all of my payments. In fact, on three separate occasions they refused to have my bank FAX those check copies to them. During this incident they sent two different totally false detailed payment statements covering several months of my alleged mortgage payments to me which totally failed to show I they had credited the $15,000 payment to principal before finally agreeing that I made the payment and that they had not properly reduced my principal by that amount. My original attempts to get them to fix it were fruitless. In order for this issue to get resolved I had to threaten to join a current class action lawsuit that the Atkins firm has filed against them, file complaints with the BBB, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Comptroller of the Currency who regulates national banks like 53 Bank, NA. Then when they finally showed the proper payoff amount and I had paid off the entire mortgage they deliberately delayed sending me my escrow balance as well as the letter showing the fact the mortgage was paid in full until I filed a formal complaint with Fannie Mae. Clear acts of customer harassment. I just got a call from Fannie Mae with regards to the final issue since they had refused to give me a letter saying the mortgage was paid. Fannie Mae said 53 Bank had advised they that 53 was going to finally send out verification of the satisfaction of our mortgage. User's recommendation: If you have the option never open an account or have a mortgage with these unethical clowns!s.
