Update by user Feb 10, 2021 A second follow up call to the Leasing Department has provided no solution yet and a continued unwillingness to confirm to me when the problem is resolved. Their mistake, my responsibility to fix it. Incredible. Original review posted by user Feb 10, 2021 Kia leasing could not do more wrong if they tried. From the signing of my contract (where they say they made an error and undercharged me), it has been a mess. I signed the contract and paid the amount due at closing based on my agreement with the finance officer. I was called a month later to say I owed more money because he had made a mistake. Despite explaining in every way possible that there was no mistake and that the agreed amount was charged, the finance manager (who took over the case) would not accept their error. Conclusion: They misled me into a contract that, at the time of signature both the leasing officer and I agreed on, as evidenced by the fact he charged me exactly what I agreed. After making my closing payment, the leasing officer asked to sign the contract a second time saying there had been a computer error. One month later, I am told that I still owe money and when was I planning on paying the balance. Balance? No one leaves a closing owing a balance on closing costs. But the contract now reflected the additional amount - which explains why I was asked to sign everything a second time. In addition to this dishonest bait and switching, I was also told that I needed to get the additional monthly coverage because during my three-year lease I would definitely need to get a new set of tires for over $1000 - therefore the $50 monthly coverage was a bargain. I called the Service department later on to be told that, NO, it is highly unlikely I would need new tires in a 3-year lease unless I was an Uber driver. So, another lie. Under duress from the dealership and a call from the 20-something year old leasing officer begging me to pay because otherwise it would be taken out of his salary and he had a wife and child to feed and could not come up with the money, I agreed to pay the difference rather than get pulled into a legal mess with this ridiculous dealership. I am a lawyer and saw that despite what I explained about what I was told and the change up of the contract getting me to sign a second time, the contract was clear that there was a difference. The dealership agreed that I could remove the lie-induced "additional coverage". Seven months and 5 phone calls later, I am STILL waiting for Kia Finance to rectify the new contract in their system. Meanwhile, I have had to pay the higher monthly amount from the first contract. A call today to the Finance office revealed: 1. They sent an email to "the wrong department" six months ago, which is why the computer system is still charging me the higher amount; 2. They will send a new email but cannot send me an email confirmation or give me a call to confirm that they have remedied their mistake (because their division can only receive incoming emails and calls; 3. It is my responsibility to check in periodically to see if they have fixed the mistake. I have NEVER in my life dealt with a more unprofessional, mediocre, dishonest company. If I could get out of the lease contract today, I would, but of course Kia makes that nearly impossible and very costly to the customer. I urge any potential car shoppers to STAY AWAY from Kia. There are plenty of better companies to buy from that treat customers fairly, honestly, and professionally. User's recommendation: Lease from another company. If you must lease from Kia, do not trust them and be prepared for problems.
