Club Carlson sent me to collections and I had no bill

I am trying to close my Club Carlson card. I asked them to reverse the annual fee. They got confused. Then they sent me to collections after I gave them the $70 for the annual fee. I have NEVER in my life paid a card late or been sent to collections. My credit rating has plummeted 100 points. No one can talk to my. There are NO, not one single charge on this card. Carlson customer service cannot help me. They think the collection agency wrote my number down wrong. So instead of calling me to tell me it would not go thru they add more fees and never notify me. Thanks Carlson tor destroying a credit rating that took me so many years to build.
