Your mistake should’nt cost me 6 months income. i can’t survive.

i am being charged a $300.00 late fee after trying to pay a bill 4 times, even ahead of time. they tried to charge my old card instead of the number for the new one that i gave them. i live in a nursing home. i get $45.00 a month to live on. I've been a customer of theirs' for years, I've always used my debit card, and i cannot pay this $300.00. what can i do? as i said, i thought this payment went through 4 times, including 2 phone calls. i don't think i should owe this on a $50.00 item that i paid for with my current debit card and they mischarged to my past account. pls help, my money has to go for things like soap, and i have to save for a coat this year. i think i'm being bullied.
